I'm back!

Actually I've been back for almost a month now. I know, I know back a month and no blog update, it is shameful. In my defence though, I got back and it's been busy, work, catching up with friends, festive season festiveness, a wedding, a birthday, looking for a flat... I have not been idly wondering what to do with myself. But I do feel bad for neglecting my blog and worried that I may have lost what little blog readers I have...

Well if you are still there, first of all thank you and secondly I will try my very best to be more frequent blogger in between flat hunting and xmas cheer.

So here are some illies I did my first week back, they are to illustrate an article on how not to behave at the office xmas party. Don't dress like a ho and don't hook up with colleagues, you have to face them again on monday.

Vietnam

I did this watercolour in my lovely hotel room when I just got into Vietnam, after a rough day of being scammed, lied to and ripped off crossing the border from Cambodia to Chau Doc, Vietnam I was happy to just enjoy my air conditioned hotel room. It had a mirror so this is me a bit tired and grumpy. Happy to say that things have improved since then I'm now in lovely Hoi An spending money I don't have, so many pretty things to buy here, its dangerous.

Tiny little pictures

Tomorrow night is the grand opening of Blankspace. And the night after that I will be jetting off to Bangkok, just another week really. These little pictures are going to be the favors if you're coming to the opening. Had to do 30 but I messed up a few so there will be 25 little pictures from me as well as tiny little artworks by Charlene (gallery owner and awesome illustrator) and Sim (very talented designer/illustrator and DJ)

Seeing as I'm jetting off in two sleeps time, this will probably be my last post untill I'm back in two months time. Doubt I will be updating the blog from there as I have a busy schedule of sight seeing, beer drinking and Pad Thai eating ahead of me. But you never know. Take care honey blossoms and see you when I'm back.

Little miss K at Blankspace

As mentioned earlier my prints will be on sale at Blankspace soon. Soon is from the 14th of September, so go check it out, those of you living in Cape Town (lucky us, its such a kief city). The grand opening is 14 September but as space is limited, I suggest you swing by from the 15th. All prints are on fancy paper and apart from my prints you'd also find prints from some other talented peeps as well as nice stationary. It's next to the Booklounge on Roeland.

Oh and all my work is stamped with my very own little miss K stamp, which I was incredibly excited about, its the little things.

Wedding invite

My friend Annie's famous fat cat, who featured on her save the date is back on the wedding invite, this time he has to share the lime light with Beulah the puppy.

Doily doodles

I've had this idea to draw in the middle of a doily for a while now, but it seems paper doilies are hard to find. I did find some in the end but they are not as pretty as I hoped. Also on the packaging they spelled doilies "doyleys" what an unattractive way to spell something pretty. If anyone knows where I can find some really nice ones, please let me know. I thought it would be appropriate to make the theme for my doily doodles an ode to tea, I do love tea.

A chihauhau a cat and a little bit of love

There's a new little gallery opening in Roeland street called Blankspace and I was asked to do some prints for them. As promised more pets! The little Chihauhau is called CB and she is just about the cutest little thing ever, now I know what you think when you hear Chihauhau, but this is not the pink, scared, pop it in your handbag type, this one has a personality. And big ears. And gets very excited about life. These prints and a few more will be on sale soon, watch this space for details.

Fat cats and happy days!

My friend Annie is getting married (YAY!) and she asked me to design a save the date for her. It had to feature her fat, food crazy cat Samurai, so she came up with this idea and I illustrated it for her. The funny thing is that I've had it in the back of my head that I want to do pet portraits so Samurai was my first attempt at capturing a little (or in his case, not so little) fluff ball. Expect to see more furry creatures here soon.

Vivre Librement!

I did this cycling top for a friend of mine who is lucky enough to be going to the Tour de France. She's going with a whole group of friends and they will be watching as well as cycling parts of it and they wanted a team shirt. Their motto is "Live free" or in French "Vivre Librement!" It was a fun job, now I just hope the actual shirts turn out nicely.

More cute creatures

This illy was the last freelance job I did from South-America. And it all seems so far away and long ago now that I'm back at my old desktop computer in Cape Town. I did promise to update my blog more regularly once I'm back and that has not happened, but I blame that on a settling in phase. I'm finding my feet here again though so hopefully now I can be a new and improved blogger.

Little Miss Thirty

Hola, so my talented friend Claudie Browne started a blog all about being thirty. And I designed her blog header for her. Its called Little Miss Thirty and it's mighty funny. Check it out here. http://littlemissthirty.wordpress.com/ And on the subject of being thirty... My lovely friend Sam is turning the big 30 on tuesday, welcome to the cool club Sammo and happy birthday! It's pretty cool being thirty, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Starsigns

Another book that I did whilst travelling, this one I worked on whilst in Peru. It's all the different starsigns. I learned a lot about astrology working on this, apparently I'm spoilt and manipulative... a (and I quote) iron fist in a velvet glove...so don't mess with us librans. Not sure the spoilt and manipulative bit is true though, hope not.

Creatures on cards

I know I have not updated my blogg in ages, I've been distracted by how much I love Chile and Argentina, love it! But my time in South-America is almost up and I'm resolved to be better with updating my blogg once I'm back home. In the meantime here are some cards that I've done on this trip. Their for Stuff from Africa and they are finally in shops now according to my spies back home (my proud mom)
